PST Migration - Does it Vault

toybitsUK

Hello,

Sorry might sounds a silly question. But does EV look at creation date of the item or import?

So, if we import 2Gb of data into an Exchange mailbox.

For argument's sake, we have a 1-month retention policy to Vault email.

The imported data dates from 1 week, to 10 years ago.

Will it import all that data tonight bar three weeks (the three between now and 1 month), or will it start importing it all in one month, i.e. one month from import date?

Hello,

If I am not mistaken, EV looks at the modified date. As you import, modified date is today, hence, items will be archived after a month.

If you're importing PST's into the mailbox, why not import them directly into the users archive? during import, you can have EV create shortcuts, so users will have their items, but you won't have the size in Exchange?

Regards. Gertjan

Hi GertjanA thanks for replying.

Won't go into boring detail but odd customer request they want them not to be vaulted for a month or so, so they can sort them just in their native Exchange format.

So this might play into what we need.

Thanks for your reply appreciate it.

Hello again,

As of EV8, it is possible to update the location of the item in the archive, based on where the shortcut in the mailbox is. In other words, if you import the PST in the archive, and have shortcuts created, then users move the shortcuts around, that should be reflected in the archive.

But, customer is king :)
