Hi
I have an issue with PST Importing using the locate, collect migrate method from a file server.
This is a new install and the PST import process was tested sucessfully over a month ago. Now we are starting to process PSTs now that users are being enabled for archiving. The environment is EV9 SP2 On windows 2008 and Exchange 2010. I have three EV servers with each one having a PST collector and migrator tasks on them.
The PST files are collected and appear in the PSTHolding area but when we migrate them the report is listed below and says that no eligable items are found. There are number of event log errors. saying unspecified error
I have the opened one of them and there is deffinitely email items in there
I have copied the report the event logs and the DTRACE below when migrating one of the PST files . It seems to happen on all servers which makes me think it is a policy setting somewhere
Thanks in advance

This may have something to do with when we're attempting to get the users mailbox quota. It could well be that the MDBUseDefault field for the users entry in Active Directory is not set.

Items not eligible for archiving meaning there's probably a misconfiguration within your PST Migration policy.
What are your PST migration and archiving policies set to at the moment?

Found this technote which matches the exception error with your dtrace:
http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH56892
Hope it helps.

Just realised that the technote is for exporting back to original mailbox, so ignore the technote...sorry!!!

i think this is still relevant CTEV Dtrace MigratorServer and find out.

Ok So that may be the issue.
Some users have had their PSTs migrated and Checking their account they do have limits assigned.
I will try it again on the other users and get back.
So by the looks of the article all mailboxes must have a limit set at some level.
That appears quite strange.

Ok I have done some testiing and if a user has the use database defaults set then the PST migrates.
If it does not have use default set and has individual limits set or no limits, the PSTs do not migrate. I have repeated the test on a number of users.
So it does look like CTEV's post and link to the doc is relevant
The question is why is it doing this.
Mark, could you explain why the tool is looking for the quota . Is there something in the policy setting that is forcing it to do this. Surely it should work if mailboxes do not have a quota or have individual quotas.
Have I found a bug and do I need to log it, or is this how it is supposed to be. Its a while since I did a PST migration EV 8 I think but I do not remember it performing like this.
Also should the status go straight to complete. I thought it only completed when the items have been backed up and secured which is not till the next night.
Thanks

Are you creating shortcuts in the user's mailbox as part of this process? I believe that is why we would be checking for a storage limit (though I am not a developer!).
Can you confirm your testing too? I would expect to only see this error (with what I've seen internally on older cases) when there isn't a storage limit that EV can detect.
β10-28-2011 04:27 AM
Thanks for the reply Mark
Yes we are creating shortcuts
I have tested it on a number of users who have no limits and who have individual limits set and it fails.
Only when I set the use defaults tick box does the PST migrate.
I dont know if this helps, but the users have been migrated from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010 within the same Exchange organisation. The AD forest is WIndows 2003 but the AD accounts are the same.
Also I have started another post about the reporting of these PST imports. The ones that failed due to this storage limits error, reports no items archived when it then completes after having the default databases setting configured. However it does actually archive the PST and create shortcuts but reports none were processed.
