PSTDisableGrow with O2k10 & VV

All,

Environment is Windows 7 with Outlook 2010 and VC\VV in use.

Followed the standard directions for PSTDIsableGrowAllowAutenticodeOverrides as found here: http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=HOWTO37645&actp=search&viewlocale=en_US&searchid=1294319843643

Inconsistent results are being observed.  All desktops are standard images.  I am able to successfully drag/drop, etc to VC and cannot add to normal PST as expected.

Another user with duplicate settings cannot perform any vault functions including drap/drop, sync, etc.  Are there any other regkeys that could be involved?

When PSTDisableGrow is set to 0 both machines perform as expected.

I have looked at both systems and can find no major differences. Same Win 7, Same Outlook and same EV build (EV 9.0.1.1073)

Regards
Joe

Could you post client traces of a machine failing?

As Marvin said..

  • Client trace
  • Screen shot of the registry keys that were added

From another thread :

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\office\14.0\outlook\pst]

"PSTDisableGrowAllowAuthenticodeOverrides "=dword:00000001

"PSTDisableGrow"=dword:00000001

There is a space that you've got in the name of the key...  remove that, and it works :)

Do you need any more help with this issue?

Rob,

I am experiencing the same issue. I have created the keys described in article HOWTO37645 with no success. I have confirmed that removing the PSTDisableGrow reg key allows the client to retrieve archived items correctly.

dmoy, please describe / list the locations of :-

PSTDisableGrow

PSTDisableGrowAllowAuthenticodeOverrides

I imagine you have them in the place indicated by Microsoft?

They however need both to be in this location :

  • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Outlook\PST

  • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Outlook\PST

  •  HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Outlook\PST

(Depending on your Outlook version)

It's described in my blog :

https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/blogs/pstdisablegrow-and-enterprise-vault-outlook-addin-901

Rob,

The pstdisablegrow key is in HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Outlook\PST. Our workstations are on Win7 x64 with 32-bit Office 2010 for compatibility reasons.

The PSTDisableGrowAllowAuthenticodeOverrides key is in the same folder as well as in HKCU\Sofware\Policies\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Outlook\PST.

Thanks.

So, as I mentioned in the blog...

a/ remove PSTDisableGrow from HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Outlook\PST

b/ add PSTDisableGrow to HKCU\Sofware\Policies\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Outlook\PST

c/ restart Outlook to pick up the changes

If that doesn't work please post a client log with full logging enabled.

Rob,

Just saw this in your blog, sorry about that oversight. I wish there were an easier way to get this working...

Looks like I will have to figure out how to get rid of all the HKCU keys that were created during our firm-wide upgrade and have the policy applied instead.

Thanks you.
