Placeholder File Bug?

I notice that after I open and close an archived file, the placeholder disappears.  It does not show up if I refresh the screen.  Only after a while (let's say 15 or 20 minutes), the icon reappears.  What is causing this to happen and how can I change the behavior?

That is by design and not configurable. A good reason is that if you have an item open and close it by mistake you can open it right back up without recalling from the archive again.
