So I am using EVPM to set custom retention categories on specific folders which is working great, but now I am wondering if there is a way to prevent users from moving the folders in Outlook with EVPM (or Exchange - doesn't really matter). This setup is EV 10.0.2 with Exchange 2010.
Solved! Go to Solution.

Remember though ... the 'do not delete' option will only hold if the end user is using Outlook or Outlook Web App *with* the EV extensions installed.

With Ev it is not possible to restrict for sure.

Hi rnt123.
In your EVPM script, you need to add the NonDeletable option with a value of true. That will prevent any delete, move or copy operation:
NonDeletable Optional. Specifies whether Outlook andOWAusers can delete, move, or copy the folder and all subfolders. Possible values:
true
false
Take a look at the utilities guide:
http://www.symantec.com/docs/DOC5462 (Page 199 - 200)
I hope this helps.

I don't think we have any way to prevent drag/drop folders inside outlook. This was discussed once in MS forum, The could be MS enhancement to have popup stating "do u want to move....yes/no" during move but unfortunately currently it's not there.
