You can set the policy so a new window does not open in a separate browser. (I noticed you said some users).

From Memory:

Open the policy and click on the advanced tab.
Change the list to desktop.

Look for a setting that indicated launching IE separately for the search.

Change the setting.

Sync the the user.

Have the user close then open outlook.

Hi Jim,

Not sure its the Outlook / Search Behavour property.

We have 50 users in the policy 47 are OK, we are having this issue with just two or three users.
Also when a user searches in the separate windows the can not open mails returned.

Thanks

Can you setup the user on a workstation that you know works to see if the problem follows them?

This issue turned out to be related to the distribution of Outlook 2003 that was installed.
When Outlook / Office was installed some registry keys the Enterprise Vault uses was not created.
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Outlook.Application

Exported this key from a client that was working and imported to the problem client and all was porking properly.

We had to open a ticket with Symantec support to resolve.

Thanks all for your help.
