Purging A5 queue?

We're having some issues, and Symantec support has suggested us to purge the A5 queue as it has like 6000+ items in there. He says it's safe to do so. I thought that you should never ever purge the queues manually?

Hi

There are queues which are safe to be purged (because they will just fill up again), and there are queues which should not be purged.
Generally, you should not purge them unless adviced to do so.

If you want to know what the queues do, fire up your EV Management Console, and click the "Help" button.
Then search for "MSMQ queue summary", which will provide you with insight on what they do.

The A5 queue is safe to purge. It's just a list of mailboxes to process that gets created when your scheduled archiving tasks run.
