what is archive explorer policy

What is retention policy. Where the message goes after completing retention policy?

Archive Explorer isn't a policy, it is a way for users to see their archived items in a folder structure.  You can enable the Archive Explorer button to show on the EV Toolbar in the Desktop Policy.  It can also be accessed directly by going to http://evservername/enterprisevault/archiveexplorerui.asp

By retention policy I assume you mean Retention Categories.  When an item is archived it is assigned a retention category, a length of time it should be kept.  When that time expires and you are running Storage Expiry the items will be deleted.
