RAID type implication for EV implementation

Hi All,

What is the caveats when deploying both Index and VaultStore partition on top of RAID 5 or 6 LUNs ?

Because I assume that vault-ed data is not performance critical so it won't be much of a difference for the users when restoring the old files couple of seconds faster.

that's the concept, yes. as far as the indexes, if you have ediscovery requirements you'll want to have them on faster disk than the vault store partitions. but in general, the raid configuration is not a specific requirement for EV.

it's going to boil down to IOPS and whatever load is on your disks besides EV. the index require the higher performance disk, not the vault stores - like you point out. whether you use raid 5, 6, or 10, etc is not that relevant.

hey john, did you have any follow up questions about this?

Andrew, so in this case by running on RAID 5 it shouldn't be a problem right ?

because EV is not a Tier-1 apps that people rely on everyday.

Cool, thanks Andrew, at the moment I do not have eDiscovery component installed.
