Reconnecting an archive to a user with a replaced mailbox

I have two users that expereinced attribute corruption in their Exchange 2007 Mailbox.

MS had me export the mailbox, destroy the mailbox and create/reconnect a new one to each AD user.

I did not disable the archive prior (and probably should have).

Now I am experiencing issues with reconnecting the mailbox.

I found two somewhat relevant documents.

http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/294339.htm   Which details this for Version 8.  I added the registration key and restarted the provisioning task (which was a guess because it didnt detail a restart).  I still get the following error:

"You cannont choose "User" because it is already the archive for the mailbox "user"

http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/297840.htm

The second document details the exact message but wants me to update the database directly via SQL Query.

Any ideas out there?

Thanks

Tom Miller

The one with the default vault id has nulls because it has not been provisioned b/c you deleted it from Exchange.  That is the one you want to remove from the table.  Then you will be able to enable them again.

Run the query. Easiest solution

Otherwise, export archive to a pst.
Disable user for archiving
delete archive
enable user for archiving, create new archive, import pst.

I looked at the query, you could first do a 'select' to see if the value is in the db. As stated, make a backup of the db mentioned, run query.

Follow the steps in the second technote.  If it were me I would most likely remove the entry for them from the table.

OK I went and did a select against one of the users.

I received two records.

One with a DefaultVault ID one without.

The one with a DefaultVaultID also had nulls for Policy entry IDs

If I selected my own record I only found one.

Thanks for all the help so far.
