We've run into a situation where our EV databases and indexes are corrupt to the point of no repair. We do not have the ability to restore to a clean state. What we DO have is all the original messages still in Exchange because we were archiving without shortcuts and without deleting the original item. The directive from "above" is to scrap everything and reinstall. (They also want to change the design of the sites/stores/etc. but that's under control.)
I am going to ZAP all the mailboxes to remove the hidden message but it's my understanding that we also need to somehow remove EV properties from the messages that have already been archived so that the new EV will be able to archive them.
We've been archiving with EV8SP5 from Exchange 2003 and 2007 servers for only a couple weeks.
EDIT: we worked with support to solve this. they provided a special script we ran to crawl through all the exchange mailboxes and remove the EV properties from items that had been archived.
