Replacing Deleted Shortcuts

Tim_Wilkins

Our policy was to have the shortcuts deleted after 6 months.  Due to overwhelming feedback, it looks like the new policy is 18 months.  It's easy enough to change, and I've already done so, but I don't know how to replace the missing 12 months worth of shortcuts.  Anyone know an easy way to do this?

Tim,

I believe the only way to do this is to restore the item from the archive and then re-archive it.

What's the best way to do this en mass?

Hi Mark,

Can the following be useful:

1. On the EV server, open regedit or regedt32

2. Navigate to HKLM\Software\KVS\Enterprise Vault\Agents

3. Create a new DWORD value - RestoreShortcutBody with a value of 1.

4. Restart the EV Admin Service. =20

5. Open the Vault Administration Console (VAC), right click on the

particular Archive Task, select Run Now.

6. Choose Report under Run Mode.

7. Choose Select Mailboxes under Number of Mailboxes.

8. Under number of eligible items, select Report on All Items, click OK.

9. Select the mailboxes to run the report against.

10. Click OK.

No, that reg key will not recreate shortcuts that were deleted...it will only change the shortcut body of existing shortcuts

Note: This will not recreate shortcuts that were deleted in a user mailbox, or create new shortcuts if there was an archiving policy that does not create shortcuts in the mailbox. This option is to be used only on existing shortcuts that need their content modified.
