RunNow Report and "Deleted Items"

Hi all,

Doing a couple of report runs for a couple of users that get the exchange quota messages.

What I can see from Exchange is that they have a lot of messages/content in their "Deleted Items" folder.

E.g. quota limit set at 600MB and Deleted Items contain 500+ MB :)

So when I run the report it says that items should be archived but they haven't been archived for a couple of weeks now.

Which is kind of logical since Deleted Items is not enabled in the archiving policy.

But do anyone know if the report take that policy setting in consideration ?

If not then I've found the issue, if it does then I need to check why they are not being archived.

Cheers,

Edit: Last sentance didn't make sense so I changed it :)

Remember that archivable item is not equal to an eligible item http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=HOWTO37063

Well if your policy is set not to archive deleted items then It will literally do just that and not archive them

also note that the report has two sets of archive numbers, one regardless of policy and one that follOws the policies rules

Hi JW2,

Yep, so the column "No of messages that would be archived", reports X items.

So the policy does not include "Deleted Items" but if the report run don't take that setting into account then it may report that incorrectly.

Which is my question really, is the setting part of the report or not :)

This number will show you the amount of items that have a corresponding message class setup in EV, so they are "eligible" for checking.:

No of archivable items

These two show a further count of those above, what would be archived, according to policy, if the run was done for "real":

No of items ready to archive

No of messages that would be archived

So if your policy is not targeting Deleted Items and you are using Quota based then it's going to be tricky hitting quota.

So yes on all those three columns.

So if I understand you correctly if Deleted Items is not being archived in the policy and Deleted Items fills the quota, that will still list a positive number of items in "No of message that would be archived" when running the report ?

Well here's a question, if you move those items from deleted to a PST, does the number in the eligible drop but the actual items stay the same? (accounting for items that have been sent, received and deleted since the last report mode was run)?

JW2, will ask the customer.

I was hoping someone had a definitive answer but I guess we'll have to try it out :)
