Searching an archive

Hi,

My boss would like doco on being able to search EV.  He's interested in the advanced searcing features and wants an exhaustive list of what each field can be.  For example, searching Outlook categories requires specific values, and although I know how to do that, I can't see where that has been documented in any Symantec doco.  Can someone point me in the right direction please.

Thanks.

There is the end user help and contextual help and I am not sure if it is documented outside that.  Have you taken a look at those?

Thanks for responding, Tony.  I have checked the in-search help, but all it says is use "Other Attributes" for application specific options.  I was hoping to find some doco on what this could be used for in Outlook, for example you use this field for searching categories, but the search attribute is "keys", and the value is the category name.  A normal user could not determine this for themselves.  So there must be a whole heap of things you cna do with this.

There is a whole bunch of stuff but I don't know of any documentation outside of the API guide available only to STEP partners which is a high premium cost But it's things like Messgae class, leaf nodes, exchdn's etc When the whole ?advanced search was created it really was meant to be more for diagnostics and dev use than end user searching But honestly it wouldn't be any more useful than what is already in the advanced search portion

Thanks JW, that's great. Seems you can also use logoical operands within fields to search multiple values.

Thanks again.
