Shortcut is not created when archiving in Outlook Anywhere

Hi

I have enabled and configured Outlook Anywhere and published Enterprise Vault web application on ISA server. I can open archived items and restore them.

When I archive any item it's archived (I can see it in the Archive Explorer) but the shortcut in mailbox isn't created. When I archive any item in Outlook with direct RPC connection to the server shortcut is created.

I ran dtrace for both archivings. As far as I understood while archiving from Outlook Anywhere the option to create shortcut was not set. Probably it's caused by fact that when I archive in Outlook with RPC connection I get following dialog window:

When I archive in Outlook Anywhere such window doesn't appear.

How can I fix it?

if you always want shortcuts to be created you can enable it in the desktop policy instead of leaving it up to the client each time

No, users should be able to choose. That's why absence of the window I've shown is also a problem.

well the thing is Outlook Anywhere is RPC over HTTP which uses the lite client where this functionality is not available (by design), AndrewB's suggestion is the only way really

Unfortunatelly forcing of shortcuts creation didn't make the create...

Is forcing of shortcuts creation made like this:

Yes.

Also I ensured option to create shortcut is locked in the window for full DCOM client and can't be unchecked. But still in HTTP client shortcuts are not created

By the way the registry value DCOMOverrideRPCHTTP didn't help. I set this value to "1" (DWORD) but still Vault information shows the HTTP client is in use. The behavior indeed has not been changed - dialog window doesn't appear and shortcut isn't created.

It was confirmed by Symantec support to be a bug. It's going to be fixed in EV 10.

did they give you a technote link stating as such and an etrack number?
Also did they say whether it will be fixed in any version of EV9

No, they didn't. The case is not closed yet so next contact I'll ask about that.

I asked whether it's fixed in EV 9 but they said it's not. I suspect I was first one with this problem :)
