Terminated Users Archives

I know there are many discussions regarding how to handle terminated employees archives. I haven't seen this question addressed so I thought I'd throw it out there. My initial thoughts were to leave the terminated employees archives alone and just let the items expire out based on their retention. My question is this: Will the users mailbox archive be deleted\removed once their are no more items left and no associated Exchange mailbox? I have a feeling the answer is No, but I thought I would check.

NO once the content is expired you will have to manually delete the archive

Us the Usage report in EV to show which have no data in them
