The entire index location and centeracollection folders corrupted - anything I need to know about relocating and rebuilding the indexes and centeracollection from scrats?

Hi,

From one of our EV servers a disk that contained indexes and centeracollection folders has corrupted and unfortunately there are no backups of them so I need to create and rebuild indexes to a different new disk location.

I found these articles:

Rebuilding an index. http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH159814

How to reset the 64-bit Indexing Engine following corruption of core data files. http://www.symantec.com/docs/HOWTO59060

How to move the Index location to a different location on the same server. http://www.symantec.com/docs/HOWTO59084

I need to rebuild the entire index to a new location - do I still need to do the steps in the article HOWTO59084? I'm not exactly moving anything but creating totally new and rebuilding the old.. What do I need to know about this. Also about the centeracollection folder... Can I just change the location info in VAC and be done with it or is there something that I need to concider with that as well? The old file is corrupted and was not backed up so it cannot be restored from the backups either... Easy steps to it?

In the VAC there is a wizard that can relocate and rebuild the indexes so if I first run the relocating wizard, can I then start the rebuil of the indexes to the new location or is there some other thing I need to take in to a count with this?

This answers to the question about the centera collection folder so that's not an issue anymore, thanks.

Location for temporary files. Specify the location in which you want Enterprise Vault to store temporary files that are waiting to be collected together. If you want to change the location, you must disable and re-enable collection.

To change the location, perform the following steps:

Clear Enable collection.

Click Apply. When collection has been disabled, click OK to close the message.

Select Enable collection.

Specify the new location for temporary files.

Click Apply.
