The server did not send a complete item ...

When retrieving an archived message (in outlook 2007) that is smaller than ca. 3mb I get the error: "the server did not send a complete item". However, when retrieving a message larger dan ca. 3mb there's no problem at all. What happens?

 

EV for Exchange 9.0

MMMMM Sounds wierd.  Would need to review a client trace.

Does the isuse perhaps occur in OWA?

Do the items open OK via Search Archive Explorer?

Does this occur logged into a user account on Outlook on EV server?

Retrieving items through Archive Explorer works fine, always.

Retrieving items in outlook 2007, by using the 'restore from safe'-button also works fine, always

Viewing an item in webbrowser also works fine, always.

It's not an issue with OWA

It happens from a client pc, in Outlook 2007 (NL, view attachments). I haven't tried on the EV-server

I'll works on the client-trace / Dtrace.

just as a matter of interest, since the user is on an EV8 SP3 client against an EV9 server, what happens if you give them the newer client?

Secondly ... are you using RPC/HTTP or Outlook Anywhere?

- I've installed the EV9 outlook client --> no result

- Attached is a complete clienttrace, right after generating the error. Weird thing is, that it looked like the message was being downloaded/recovered; I saw a 'downloading-bar' on the screen, but right after the download completed, the bar disappears and the error message comes up ("the server did not send ...)

- also I've attached a log of the 'safe information' in which there's one error: TESTING CONNECTION

HTTP connection failed    http://djsarchive.dejong.hq/EnterpriseVault (Status: 0x12)

I don't understand this error, since http connection with the ev-server looks ok to me ...

- i'm using the outlook 2007 mapi client on a local network (not rpc/http ... that's the next step I hope).

hmm I can't see anything obvious in there, and, it's not using RPC/HTTP so it's not the issue that I'm currently investigating.

 

One other thing..  is this a small (eg 30-50 Kb original size) item or a large one (eg 2Mb+ original size).

this was a small item ... and I don't have any problem retrieving it by using the 'retrieve from safe' button from the OL-EVaddin.
