I'm having a bit of trouble understanding the uninstall procedure of my test EV server. From the documentation it seems like just a standard Add/Remove programs, with the following caveats:
"If you are uninstalling EnterpriseVault on a secondary EnterpriseVault server,
and you want to preserve the Directory database, first backup the database
and then close down the primary Enterprise Vault server computer, before
uninstalling Enterprise Vault on the secondary Enterprise Vault server
computer.
"
Please could somebody:
1) Define a primary and secondary Enterprise Vault computer (I am presuming this simply relates to the order in which they were initially installed into the organization)
2) If my presumption is correct, why I need to shut down the primary EV server to perform an uninstall?! This seems very wrong so hopefully I'm getting the wrong end of the stick.
I actually did perform an uninstall of my test server, but was surprised that it was still listed in the Directory on the other computers.
