As this is not a function that Symantec provides currently, does anyone know of a 3rd party app that can produce these results? My issue is that messages, even though they are in the archive via the journal, cannot be searched by the user in search vault or archive explorer. Assuming the user deleted the message before the mailbox archiving task archived that message bases upon age. We just migrated from emailxtender and even though EV is working as designed, my users view it as broken since this is actually a functionality loss.

i don't know of any utility, i know its been discussed before, i think its part of the functionality that symantec would sooner not take on as it could introduce security risks or compliance risks.
Would suggest adding an Idea to the ideas section and have it upvoted, it may already be there though at this point in time. I take it when the displacement occured that this was not covered with the sales or architects who designed the new environment?

I've heard of that company and product. I'm concerned about them being such a small shop. So I was hoping there would be enterprise level competitors. Thanks for your help.

Having worked with David Ouelette in the past and knowing their presence, i can confidentally say that this is a company that isn't going anywhere, and in actuality they are in a really good position to be able to accomodate changes and requests than most bigger "enterprisey" type companies
For instance with symantec, you ask for a change it will have to be proposed, determine the impacts, what resources it would take, how long it would take, design documents drafted, written, QA'd etc and its a long process
But with a company the size of vault solutions you have a much better chance to get things that you require and the turn arounds can be a lot quicker, and to be fair the same can be said for other companies that build add ons and third party products such as Blue Source, GlobaNet etc

Totally agree with JW2 about David. When I was RPM at Symantec I personally recommended David's company to more than few customers that needed solutions Symantec didn't provide.

MichelZ, I looked at the webpage and don't see any solution for us. What product were you talking about?

I appreciate the kind comments!
I started Vault Solutions 5 years ago to focus on adding features to EV such as the one requested here. I was one of the first Enterprise Vault product managers and was frustrated that it took so long to get new features out the door. My background is over 30 years of building enterprise class software (I project managed many successful software products at Digital, where Enterprise Vault was started.) We now ship our Vault Solutions products to many of Symantec's largest customers world-wide. Symantec regularly brings us into customers to fill the gap where a feature may be missing.
The search feature you are asking for was actually commissioned by Symantec and we've sold it to a number of their customers, some because they moved from emailXtender and the users expected to see the feature. In some cases, the companies only bought Enterprise Vault because we were able to provide the journal search feature for them. It took quite a while to develop this product and I know of no other company with anything like it for Enterprise Vault.
We would appreciate the opportunity to provide a trial version for your company to test.
Thanks,
Dave
