If you look at the properties of the EnterpriseVault virtual directory in IIS what is the version for ASP.Net set to?

Changing ASP use 2.0.50727 seemed to fix the Off line vault issue.  However I'm now seeing the warning below in the event log, any ideas

Also whilst running in .Net version 2 we had a hand full of users that couldn't open archived attachments.  We had a number of 1309 warning in the even log.

Could this be caused by a lot of users downloading their Vault Cache?

Ok, it needs to be set to 2.0.  Did you you do an IIS reset after you changed it?  Also, the clients might need to delete their temp internet files.

I restarted IIS and got the clients to clear their internet history but I'm still getting issues with users being prompted for authentication.  However after applying the hot fix below it stopped the errors in the even log

http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/346084.htm

Any ideas?

So you are not getting errors any longer and VC is downloading for users?

What is the prompt you are getting?

James_Herbert

Correct if you use .net version 2 users can download VC and we are not getting errors in the event log.

However a good percentage of out users are being prompted to authentice with the valut server from within their Outlook client

Is it the message that Vault Cache needs them to enter their passwords so it can proceed?

Does it happen just once for them or is it continuously prompting?

This happens ebven if the user isn't enabled for VC.

It is continuiusly prompting for authentication

any ideas on this?
