Virtual Vault - Attachments are not counted in total mail size

Jan_Bach_Kasier

Hello Experts

One of our users has discovered that when sorting mails in a folder in Virtual Vault - they are all just about the same size. A lot of them have attachments in them, but these does not seem to be included in the size colume. First he thought that he lost a lot of large mails, but they were just hidding in the crowd.

Has anybody heard about this before?

We are running EV 9.02 with addin 9.0.2.1169.

Best regards,

Jan

The reason is is that you are seeing the MDC file which is the metadata cache, this contains the folder structure and brief parts of each email in your cache, the MDC is about 10% the size of the whole archive The full emails are held in a series of DB files and when you open an item through virtual vault it then recalls the item from that DB file

Hi Jan,

just checked mine here and it shows the size of the shortcut content rather than the full size of the original item. The original item isn't fully recalled until you select or open it so the size as far as Outlook is concerned is the size of the shortcut and not the size of the item that the shortcut points to
