Virtual Vault and Mac solution

According to the article below Virtual Vault and Virtual Cache does not work for Mac users.  We have about 40% of our Exchange users using Mac and they all just happen to be VIPs.  Do you know if there is any virtual cache or virtual vault solution coming out for Macs?  We are starting to receive request to remove Vault for Mac users.

Unfortunately Microsoft have developed Outlook for the Mac without the ability for third-party developers to hook into the application in the same way Enterprise Vault does on Windows. Therefore we've had to think of an alternative solution.

We've started an R&D exercises into a feature we're calling 'Mail Connect'. This new feature provides IMAP access to archived mailbox data just like access to a mail server, one of the options for Outlook 2011 for Mac is to download both header and content. This means Outlook could create an 'Offline' cache of archived information.

At the moment 'Mail Connect' is targeted towards our Dublin (code name) feature release, delivery timing will be released in due course.

I've not heard it coming on the horizon, but you may wish to put this to the symc sales people or any product people you work with and state it as a requirement. There maybe something in the works in the future that they could tell you about, but i'm not entirely sure if there is.

That being said, what does VV/VC provide that becomes a deal breaker for these users?
Are they using Outlook 2011 and the new Mac client and it isn''t meeting their expectations etc?

VV/VC provides an offline copy of the user's archive emails.  They want to have that local copy just like Windows users and they also want archive shortcut icons.
