We NEED Better Support for Macs!

We are a predominantly Mac-based organization.  We have perhaps 800 Macs in service.  Mac OS versions range from 10.4 through 10.6.x.  We currently run Entourage 12.x and 13.x.  We run Exchange 2007.

Symantec Enterprise Vault is woefully behind on support for current versions of Mac OS and Entourage.  Symantec EV does not yet support 10.6 ("it's coming" is the promise) or Entourage EWS (13.x).  Both have been out for a year.

This is completely unacceptable.

Apple is getting ready to relase 10.7, probably in January 2011.  Microsoft is getting ready to relase Outlook 2011 for Mac.  We can assume support for each of these products will take at least a year.

If Symantec can't get it's act together to provide a fully-featured client for the Mac OS and the standard Exchange client, in a teimely manner, can we at least have a OWA extensions and archive explorer for non-IE browsers??????

Being brutally honest, the amount of Mac's in corporate use vs the amount of windows machines doesn't make a whole amount of fiscal sense to give OSX a higher priority than the native Outlook and Windows model that currently exists.

I believe like most companies, they will look at the cost to dedicate time and resources to a particular part of the product vs the demands and the potential return of investment, obviously as Mac gains more share, and better Microsoft integration in the form of EWS and Outlook means that this is more a probability than possibility

but lets take in to account that Microsoft announced Outlook for the Mac almost a year ago, and its scheduled to be here in 2011, it takes time to develop and honestly Entourage is a woeful excuse as an Outlook alternative, but there really is potential for outlook, and hopefully better integration than what the EV Entourage Add In was able to achieve previously

Obviously these are all just my opinions and do not in any way reflect those of symantecs, but to me it seems that the demand just isn't there, though admittedly it is starting to pick up

To be fair Microsoft only just started supporting the premium OWA client on non-IE browsers, in Exchange 2010 ... and their product is a) much older, and b) 10-100x more developers working on it that Enterprise Vault.

Your best approach to voice your concern is to contact your account manager, who can perhaps get you contact details for Product Management.  The more people that push for better support, the more likely it is to get resourced, and done.

BTW the Ideas section is reviewed by Enterprise Vault Product Management multiple times per month
