What is the correct way to delete an archived mailbox from Exchange?

I'm trying to find out what the correct way to delete an archived mailbox from Exchange is. We need to be able to keep the archives, but delete the Exchange mailbox/AD account. Right now, for these accounts, our process is:

1. Archive all mail in the users mailbox

2. Disable archiving for the mailbox

3. Delete the Exchange mailbox

I'm seeing an Event ID 3420 in the Enterprise Vault event log, and need to find out how to get rid of these messages, and what the correct process for deleting a mailbox is.

Thanks

you have it right. in general there's nothing special you need to do to accomodate for when an exchange mailbox is deleted. can you post the full event that you're seeing in the logs and we can go from there? also, can you tell what is happening around the time the event shows up? is it provisioning, synchronization, task starting, etc?
