Hi there,
I am in the process of trying to get various department to buy in to having their shares archived. The question I keep getting asked from depts is that when their data's retention period is about to expires can they be sent notification or at least to the administrator (Me :) )
Is this possible?
Cheers

Not within the product itself, no
There are expiry reports you can run before hand but its just going to tell you how many items are going to be expired, not the names of the files
The problem stems from the fact that in an enterprise environment with proper rolling retentions and storage expiry, you could in theory be expiring hundreds of thousands of items a day, which is a tax on the EV system itself and may just overwhelm the user.
In Email archiving there is the expiry report the user can run for themselves, but its not automated.
You could run SQL Queries that would at the very most tell you the size of the items and the archive and the folder they belong to, but it won't give you any details, so if its FSA you won't know the name of the file or anything like that, or if its an email you cant tell the subject, from or to etc.
You could write a script that queries the index as well, however all the API documentation is only available to STEP partners, or you could engage one of the third party consultants such as Quadrotech or globanet etc

Currently no, there isn't any alerting built into the product. You can run the Storage Expiry process in Report mode but honestly I find it a bit underwhelming.
It sounds like you are talking about FSA, you could engage a third party like QuadroTech, Globanet, or Vault Solutions to come up with something for you.
EDIT=>> Or what JW2 said! ;)

thanks guys. It is FSA (sorry I should have stated this) and I suspected there wasn't anything but wanted to double check before giving my reply to users.
