Why Program Files x86

Hello,

Enterprise Vault 10.x compatibility chart clearly defines that EV 10 is support ONLY on 64 - Bit operating systems (Enterprise Vault Server installation). Why is it then installed to the "Program Files x86" folder and not the "Program Files" folder?

Any thoughts?

OK so!
Enterprise Vault 10 has the 64bit indexing engine, so it has to be installed on an x64 machine
Enterprise Vault itself other than indexing is all 32bit, except for the 64bit filter drivers for FSA and the OWA 2007/2010/2013 plugins

You can however install EV any where ever you wanted to.

Also for versions of EV9 and lower that support Windows Server 2008 only support 64bit because of feedback from customers that they were all going to 64bit platforms and not x86,, so they concentrated their efforts on QA'ing EV for x64 instead
