it's not technically an EV issue but since it's preventing me from installing DA reports i thought maybe someone else on the board has run into this. basically, SQL and SSRS are installed on the same server. it's a single server with a single SQL instance. the reports come up fine when accessed locally but accessing them via http://sqlserver/reports from another server, while logged in as the VSA, returns with a http 401 error code. this same code is what we get when trying to install the DA reports which is supposed to "push" them from the DA server to the SRS server.

turned out to be a gpo/permissions issue and was fixed by the customer. thanks for everyone's input.

Can you access it via the other url? It will be something like http://sqlserver/reportserver

thanks JW. i'll check this out and see what we can do considering that now we have production SQL databases on there it might take some time to make the changes and reboots.

I feel you might have checked this but for making sure, from IIS did you confirm that 'integrated Authentication' is checked on the security tab from the properties on 'report'

are you sure about that? i dont have IIS installed as a role or feature on the server (windows 2008 r2, sql 2008 r2, SSRS 2008 r2)
04-02-2012 11:49 AM
huh?
You have SSRS installed on a server that doesn't have IIS installed?
04-02-2012 02:55 PM
yup that's exactly how it appears to be installed
04-02-2012 03:09 PM
ok so which server DOES have IIS installed and hosts the reports and reportserver virtual directories?
04-02-2012 03:11 PM
never mind, i researched it and SSRS installs stand alone components like httpsys to do web hosting for the reports and doesnt require IIS
