expiry ...oops!!

hey,

we had run expiry by mistake and it ran through its normal process, like it does and finished.

is there any way of undoing it? or getting it restored? without doing a full EV environmentrestore?

thanks

yeah unfortunately the quickest way to do it is a full environment restore (Databases, indexes and vault stores) but the issue you have there is that anything that has been archived since the expiry process will be lost....

If your backup allows for it, you could probably do a restore of just the Vault Store partition data only writing files that don't exist on disk so you're not restoring everything

You would have to do this for every partition on every vault store on every EV Server, especially if you do sharing in a vault store group

and after that you would have to run EVSVR to place the items back in to the vault store databases and back in to the indexes

The EVSVR will take some time as will the restores from tapes presumably
Would suggest going forward that you set all the archives to not expire items on the archive properties
Then if someone accidentally does a run now, or sets the schedule etc, it wont affect the archives because they're all set not to expire the items.

Full restore is the only way unfortunately.

just in case you didn't see it, but if you restore all data (indexes/databases/partitions) to before the expiry took place, you could end up losing data thats been archived since the expiry took place, so plan carefully
