thanks for the link
i already tried workaround 1 but without success.
what if i disable "Update archive location for items moved in the mailbox" as described in worlaround but want to use this feature?
by the way: this workaround stopped getting the mentioned error.
can u tell me where to look for these queues as described in workaround 3? i heard so often from them but don't know about....

So you tried workaround #1 and the error stopped occuring correct?
Do you use Exchange Managed Folders in your environment? and do you want them archived?
And do you want them to follow Exchanges rules or your own Enterprise Vault Retention rules?
If you want to use Moved Items and Update Retention Category then obviously Workaround 2 will not be suitable for you in this case, it is only listed as it is truly a workaround, and would stop the error from working at the loss of functionality
The Queues can be found in Computer Management.
Windows Server 2003:
Go to Start -> Right Click "My Computer" and click Manage -> expand out Services and Applications -> expand out Message Queueing and then click "Private Queues"
Windows Server 2008
Go to Start -> Right Click "My Computer" and click Manage -> expand out Features -> expand out Message Queueing and then click "Private Queues"
In a clustered environment go to your EV install directory and run ClusterCompMgmt.bat
i.e go to Start -> Run -> "C:\Program Files (x86)\Enterprise Vault\ClusterCompMgmt.bat" and press OK

i tried workaround 2 with success, workaround 1 (set up "archive Exchange Managed Folders" to OFF) did not help!
and yes, i do use Exchange Managed Folders ("Delete and Allow Recovery") so i have set mentioned value to "Managed"

Glad that JW could help you (in his typical lightening quick sort of fashion).
Just a friendly reminder that if he resolved your issue please mark his posting as the solution so that others do not come in and try to help. Typically I wait some time before this sort of harrassment... but it seemed resolved already... and since it is still active I figured what the heck.

just as i said, workaround #2 stopped errors coming up when doing shortcut processing. but i want to use this feature so this is NOT a solution for me.

In the Technote is says
Enterprise Vault 10.0 - Release Details
so this issue is fixed in the EV10 version. This has not been rolled back into the EV9 stream as the workarounds are valid. I would advise upgrading to EV10 but if you feel compelled to stay on EV9 I would suggest logging a call with support. You can reference this internal e-track number too 2323845.
