I don't think you have EV 11... maybe 10?

You can ...

a/ delete items manually, or using search.asp, and add them to a basket then delete the items

b/ set a low retention category period on them, and then use storage expiry

They're just a few options.

Hello,

I assume you have Enterprise Vault 10. As far as I know, EV11 is not available (yet).

There is an extensive technote on SQL maintenance for EV databases. Check this: http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH74666

In addition, you do NOT purge data from EV databases. The only TABLE I know can be purged (to be recreated by provisioning) is the ExchangeMailboxEntry table in the Directory database. The remaining databases will be maintained using the above mentioned document. If you configure Enterprise Vault to do (for instance) storage expiry on archived items, EV will take care of removing entries from the databases affected. When that is done during normal business, your maintenance plan will take care of managing the databases.

You can do some housekeeping on the monitoring database (http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH72170) and the audit database (if auditing is enabled) (document to be found.... )

If this does not answer your question, can you be more specific in what you see, want, and expect?

Which databases are you talking about? Audit? Monitoring? Directory? Vault store? Fingerprint? Discovery Accelerator customer databases? Auditing and monitoring you can set how many days worth of records to keep Directory shouldn't be all that big even in large environments Vault store and fingerprint databases will keep records for all live EV data and with the use of DA can grow large when applying large amounts of legal holds But those databases will only remove records when you delete archives, when a user deletes items or when you perform storage expiry Typically though deleting old archives and using storage expiry should be something that the legal team would determine in order to meet their own compliance needs So for instance if you have the need to keep every item forever then there is nothing you can do except to plan for the databases to get bigger as that is there need and you have to work that in to your plans Also some people will mistake large transaction logs for being large databases, in which case make sure your maintenance schedule is set to truncate the transaction logs after every database backup If you don't do this then the transaction log will grow and grow and usually be bigger than the actual database files

Hello again,

If you are satisfied with one of the answers, can you mark that as solution? This way, others know where to look for answers, and people will not open the question to provide an answer.....

Thanks, and good luck!
