items not taking on the correct retention

hello,

having an issue where people move items from imbox (90 day retention) to a retention folder with (1yr retention) the item doesnt take on the new retention, i have let the normal shortcut process run and have run it manually a few times and no good.

i worked with symantec tech support and we came up with a fix, upgrading to 8.0 sp5, right now im on 8.0 sp3. i know this is not ideal and im not really ok with the answer but its exactly what im experiencing, see the tech notes.

whats odd and where im having the issue is if its a flaw that's fixed in sp5 and have been using sp3 for a long time, why are only some users affected? the only change was we add a bunch of users.

has anyone seen this beofre?

This is a recap to resolve this issue you will need to upgrade your current Enterprise Vault version to a minimum version of 5.0 SP5 with the hofix http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH152546.

Ultimately you would want to upgrade to Enterprise Vault version 9.0.1

what's your hesitation about installing sp5 if that's what support is recommending? i'd kind of say you're lucky they're helping you and not just saying call them back after you upgrade to 10.

When you only some users affected, does it mean you have used EVPM to create folders for only these affected users? I am asking this because as per tech articles, this issue occurs only for EVPM created folders.

You might already know that EV 8.0 and9.0 are already EOL, hence nothing much can be done on these versions now. I would rather suggest upgrading to EV 10 latest version, if possible.

I know you want a work around rather than upgrade but if it was already identified as bug and proper fix available then I would suggest go for it.
