I have opened a case but have not heard back. all my user complain when outlook opens of long process and repeated 10gb update when outlook opens after my upgrade to v9.01

You've not mentioned if you've applied the EV 9.0.1 hot fix as detailed as the solution in thread:

That hot fix resolves the issue of the vast updates. However there is another issue that is not addressed by that fix (but doesn't involve large updates when users logon). See the following thread (this impacts customers using Exchange Managed Folders and the EV managed folder policy is set to OFF)

I have applied the hotfix but exchange logs still growing and users still having large sync every morning. One guy had 10 new message but said 11GB to sync. I have case open but they are not calling me back

First thing to try is to purge theA6 queues - prior to the hot fix being applied your A6 queue would have filled with a back log of work that is causing these large updates.
It is safe to purge the A6 queue - any real movement of items will be re-queued.
