sharepoint archiving requirement

MorsiSaeed

i will configure SharePoint archiving and there's some confusion regarding SharePoint certificate

according to the KB.

The certificate used by the SharePoint virtual server or web application must have the same name as the SharePoint URL. For example, if the SharePoint URL is https://sharepoint, then the name of the certificate used when issuing a certificate request must be SharePoint.

If the names do not match, Enterprise Vault will not be able to validate the SharePoint site when you try to configure it in the Administration Console.

i need more clarification on this

Hi,

If the certificate is not already present on the EV server than yes you would need to export/import it.

Hi MorsiSaeed,

If the server name is sharepoint then the URL would be https://sharepoint. When creating the certificate it should have the name sharepoint so that when you browse to the URL from the EV server it is able to connect without a certificate error.  Would also have the FQDN in the certificate as well to avoid any issue with resolving by that name, such as sharepoint.ev.local

so i will need to export the sharepoint certificate from share point server IIS.

even if the environment runs with root certificate , right?
