Hi,

I try to change the Vault Cache size in the policy from 2GB to 10 GB, but even after Sync. the Vault Cache size is not changed...

DO i need to re-create Vault Cache on the workstation?

If so, how can i acheve that on 1000 computers?

Thank you!

You can either change the policy and the rebuild the cache or try Michel's suggestion.

Either way, I would recommend you change the policy for future mailboxes.

Yes, you will have to re-create the Vault Cache on all the workstations for the new size to take affect.

Oh, and as for reseting them all at once, you probably want to stagger that out a bit so not all 1000 users are without their Vault Cache at once.  Maybe send users instructions a handful at a time to reset their cache, I posted the following on another thread, you could modify it and send to your users:

Also, I would recommend you try to do a full reset of Vault Cache.

1. Press CTRL + SHIFT together on the EV Buttons in the top right hand corner of your Outlook Client
2. This brings up the Enterprise Vault Diagnostics Menu
3. Press Reset to trigger the process to rebuild your Vault Cache

The options available are as follows:

Reset

  • Deletes all Metadata & Content Cache files
  • Forces a full synchronization & initial download

Please be aware that resetting your Vault Cache will require you to close Outlook and re-open it
before the rebuild of Vault Cache can occur.

All previous Vault Cache content will be required to be downloaded again.

Be sure before doing the vault cache reset, make sure items awaiting to upload in virtual vault have synced otherwise you will get into a data loss situation

Wait a sec guys... don't you think it's a little bit overkill to reset all VC's :)

There is probably a better way of doing this, what about:

- Setting the Size of the Vault Cache in the Registry on the Clients

The Key is in:

HKCU\Software\KVS\Enterprise Vault\Client\<id>

Name: OVStoreSize (Megabytes)

Wouldn't that be much better, cause resetting 1000 VC's is surely a pain... (as Tony suggests..)
Oh, and if you want to send instructions...  then send instructions to just increase the Vault Cache Size on the WorkStations, instead of resetting them... ?

Just my 5 cents...

Cheers

Michel

FYI: Vault Cache size will not prevent the *.mdc file from growing.  It only impacts the size of the *.db files.

Thank everybode for your comments!

To resume:

-there is no way to change the Vaukt cache size by changing the policy.

-the best way to change the size is to modify the clinet's registry

That's right?
