upgrading exchange server an changing the domain name

Hello

We are going to upgrade our exchange server from 2003 to 2007 and also planning to add new domain name. So can someone suggest what all i need to do from EV side. We are useing EV7.0 SP5.

Would recommned you get some consultancy for this to ensure planned and implemented properly. Not really something can get a how to for as some many variables.

Genie is correct in that this would require some proper planning from professional services but in a nutshell yes you should be able to remove and add it to your new domain but their are other things to be taken into consideration.

1. Updating VSA details
2. Changing webapp url to point to new site.
3. Keeping old dns settings to points to new server for universal shortcut functionality

 In part I think it depends what you mean by "upgrade your Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2007", and the size of your environment.  Are you going to move users to a whole new Exchange organisation, or introduce an Exchange 2007 in to your current Exchange organisation and move mailboxes to the new Exchange 2007 server? If it's the latter then have a look at the Admin Guide and see what it says you need to do in order to target an Exchange 2007 server.

Likewise when you say you're adding a new domain name, what do you mean by that?  An additional SMTP address for users?  Changing the primary SMTP address (and keeping the old one as a secondary?)
