Guys,

What is the purpose of enabling the "restoreshortcutbody reg" ? because in this article it show how to turn it off

http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH47364

I wonder what this feature is for if according to this thread I must turn it off due to the exchange transaction log issue generated causing no free disk space left.

Thanks.

Is RestoreShortcutBody enabled on your server?! if so DEFINITELY turn it off.

It's entire purpose is to rebuild shortcuts if you change policies and such.
For instance lets say you have your policy set to leave the whole message body, but you change the policy to be 500 characters, include some links etc, you would put that key on and then it would convert every single shortcut that it found in users mailbox.

However if you leave that on, every time the archiving run goes on, it will rebuild the shortcuts each time, so it will blow up your exchange transaction logs, but the other issue could be Moved Items, which will have a large impact on your exchange transaction logs too
