creating ghost boot onto portable hdd partition

can someone please tell me if possible to create ghost boot files onto a partition on a usb drive and how? it just seems to format the hdd and install the file on the root of the drive and not a specific partion i have created. ideally i would like to have a 2gb partion for the ghost files and another partition for the images.

so far it keeps wiping my partition when it installs the ghost files!
