TechFest4.pngAs we have for so many years, volunteers from the Veritas Heathrow office in Florida participated in the 14th annual TechFest at Crooms Academy of Information Technology, where Veritas was once again a Senior Sponsor.

Techfest is a signature education and fundraising event where a series of workshops, presentations, and informative booths engage high school students who are eager to learn about the latest advancements in science and technology. Techfest raises over $28,000 for scholarships, internships, and curriculum support and is one of Central Florida’s leading technology experiences for high school students.

Veritas introduced the visitors of our booth to the concept of enterprise data management and how critical of a role we play to keep so many large and unique businesses online, operational, and, most importantly, protected.

The volunteers from Veritas come from different divisions, including product management, solutions marketing, Support, Customer Engagement, and Technical Marketing Engineering. This diverse experience was an excellent opportunity for students to learn about the various career options they’re able to pursue, and they got to hear what it’s like to pursue a career in technology directly from those working in the fields.

The Veritas teaTechFest2.pngm talked about machine learning, artificial intelligence, data architecture and walked the students through a ‘prune the product tree’ exercise that focused on what technologies will be the most relevant in the next 5 to 10 years. Many students were so excited and asked if we offered high school or first-year college internships, others wanted to take the conversations further and discussed the advancements of evolving workloads like hybrid and public clouds. We also received many questions from students on what they’d need to do to pursue a career at Veritas once they’ve completed their high school and undergraduate degrees.

As expected, Veritas’ booth was the post with the most. We saw the heaviest traffic at the event, and our popular raffle drawings energized and excited the student.

But the education didn’t just end at our booth, Backup Exec Product Manager, Brian White, gave a spectacular presentation during a workshop focused on the fundamentals of communicating for success. Brian dove into how effective messaging is an absolute game-changer, no matter the objective and the end goal.

Veritas will be participating again next year and hope to have even more volunteers that will help drive excitement and motivate more students to pursue careers in STEM and innovative companies like Veritas.
