Juneteenth is the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States. On June 19, 1865, Major General Gordon Granger of the Union Army landed in Galveston, TX, and informed slaves that the Civil War had ended, and the U.S. had abolished slavery.
Black Employees at Veritas Empowered (BLEVE) commemorates and observes this day of freedom, and has provided ways for all employees to join in the celebration:
