At the close of February and onset of March 2018, HR teams across Veritas’ global offices stepped from the office and into the world to volunteer for non-profit organizations in their communities.

On March 1, Tina Amela, Brian Bates, and Laurie Morrical of Veritas’ Portland, Oregon office, dedicated a day to volunteering at the Oregon Food Bank – an organization that distributes food through a Statewide Network of 21 Regional Food Banks and approximately 1,200 food assistance sites, serving all of Oregon and Clark County, Washington.

In the morning, the Veritas HR team prepared carrots for use by the bank, loading 2-pound bags with the help of 30+ elementary school students. By the end of the shift, the team had helped pack 3,516 lbs. of carrots for a total of 2,930 meals produced.

In the afternoon, they sorted frozen and refrigerated items donated by local grocery stores and restaurants, ultimately packing 12,710 lbs. of food for total of 10,591 meals produced by volunteers – meals that will support the nutritional needs of thousands of individuals across the Pacific Northwest region.

In 2018, across our global offices, those of us on Veritas Human Resources teams will be completing nearly 4,000 hours of philanthropic work in support of our local communities, and on behalf of Veritas Technologies.

Efforts like this in support of the Oregon Food Bank, and by HR Giving Week participants – from Portland, Oregon to Pune, India – are just a part of what makes #LifeAtVeritas so good.
