BYKTWD_Logo_FINAL.JPGOn April 25, 80 kids and 40 #TeamVtas volunteers from Veritas’ Heathrow office participated in the Bring Your Kids to Work Day event. This year the event theme was “Getting In Gear 2Gether."

The check-in desk was ready at 7:30 a.m. for sign-in, where kids received their name badge, group shirt, and a back-pack to place hand-outs from each session they attended throughout the day. The event ran from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m., and employees were encouraged to have kids shadow them for the day prior and after the event times.

The event began with a welcome message from Katie Botsford (BYKTWD Coordinator), HRO’s Site Leader, Jonathan Pitton (VP, Technical Support) and Dale Smith (VP, Renewals).

The kids participated in sessions like Inspired Basic Math Skills & Teamwork (Nerf Gun Math), Developed an understanding of the importance of Emotional Intelligence (Inside Out Emotions), Emphasized STEM skills and Computer Literacy through coding (Hour of Code), Collaboration and Communication in a uniquely challenging way (Cup Castles), and Sparked their innovative Spirit with Engineering and Critical Thinking (Balloon Towers).

Finally, the groups gathered for our closing ceremony with MC “Busta St. James” hosting the closing message, some dance and music lessons, and even conducted a dance competition between the tour guides and the kids voted for the winners!

And of course, the kids favorite: a raffle! A variety of grab bags with Veritas Swag, many STEM-related toys/activities, and a grand prize of a Nintendo Switch were given to the winners!
