Veritas Roseville office supports its local children’s hospital and Ronald McDonald House

In June of 2011, following the loss of my son’s dear friend, Connor VanKuiken, I began coordinating a bimonthly brunch at the Ronald McDonald House at Children’s Hospital Minneapolis. I wanted to find a means of routinely honoring Connor and his family, and contribute resources to a facility that has played such a meaningful role in my life and those of my children.

My son, David, and his friends Connor and Tommy Bean are the “original members” of what is now endearingly referred to among our cohort as the “Third Grade Fight Club.”My son, David, and his friends Connor and Tommy Bean are the “original members” of what is now endearingly referred to among our cohort as the “Third Grade Fight Club.” Simply, the three boys were inseparable, and serving brunch over the last seven years has helped to preserve these positive memories and give a nod to Connor’s generous, loving spirit.

With this history in mind, when my Veritas colleague, Malina Pech, was seeking a Give Back opportunity for the Veritas University interns, I connected the dots! On July 8th, Veritas staff prepared and served brunch to 50+ people residing at the Ronald McDonald House – the event was a success.

A volunteer coordinator at the House reached out to me shortly after the brunch to share they’d been “struggling this summer to have enough groups sign up to serve a meal and it is so nice for me to be able to count on your group being here regularly.” It felt incredible inviting #TeamVtas to join in “The Friends of Connor VanKuiken” bimonthly brunch.

And on August 3rd, our local employee resource groups will collaborate to pack sandwiches and grab-and-go cookies and other snacks to serve at a Ronald McDonald House event.

It is shared efforts like these in support of the Ronald McDonald House at the Minneapolis Children’s Hospital that make #LifeAtVeritas so fulfilling.
