One of my favorite things about working for Veritas is how the company emphasizes the importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) at every level in the organization. Veritas provides ways for employees to embody DEI at work and beyond. For example, Veritas employees are very involved in our Employee Resource Groups (ERG), which are grassroots employee-led programs that foster diversity, equity, and inclusion and mitigating our environmental footprint.
This month is especially important for one of these wonderful groups: Pride at Veritas Empowered, or PAVE. I was recently named Executive Sponsor for PAVE, and I couldn’t be more excited to help the team promote and expand a thriving community of LGBTQ+ employees and allies at Veritas.
Throughout the year, PAVE’s mission is to foster an inclusive workspace and educate the community about LGBTQ+ issues, network with each other for support and learning, and develop, promote, and nurture diverse talent at every level.
The group not only organizes activities in support of the LGBTQ+ community, but also encourages personal and professional acceptance, inclusivity, and love for all people regardless of age, gender, non-binary/non-conforming, race, religion, or sexual orientation. Some of these activities include:
Last week I hosted Veritas’ quarterly DEI townhall with our CEO, Greg Hughes. The company-wide event shared information about the LGBTQIA+ community, pronoun usage, and highlighted an experience of a transgender, queer professional to help everyone understand a different experience. Learning about what makes us diverse helps expand our ability to empathize with others. It was so amazing!
It’s such an honor to serve as Executive Sponsor of PAVE. I’ve always been a strong advocate of the LGBTQ+ community and am excited to help forward the PAVE mission here at Veritas. I’m so proud to work for such a wonderfully diverse and inclusive company.
