2. To skip configuration, enter 0 (zero) when prompted for the size.
This also deletes any existing data.
3. To keep the storage pool intact, choose the default size, if applicable.

Is this not the problem:

- [Info] Looking for existing storage configurations...
- [Info] Found existing storage configuration. Attempting to import the configuration...
- [Info] Successfully imported the storage configuration.

...i.e. it looks you had a previous configuration which has not been fully removed.

Time for a Veritas Support case I think.

hello sdo, (thank you in first time)

this appliance is new, and I think that this existing  configuration is a previous configuration ended bad. I should also reset to default the appliance but I think that the problem persist, have you some idea when I can find some logs ?? I just check "/log/netbackup/admin" on the appliance with this interesting:

Have you loaded a valid license?

If you still have only the default v2.7.3 shipped demo/temporary/shipping license installed, and if you re-image the appliance then this brings back the old demo/temporary/shipping, then that demo/temporary/shipping license for v2.7.3 expired on 31-Oct-2016.

If the above is the case, then you have two options:

1) Keep a valid system/BIOS date, and install a valid license key (and you may as well remove the old demo license while you are at it).

2) Bodge the BIOS date, and use the demo/temporary/shipping license, but risk the bad system date affecting your backups and/or corrupting other elements of your production backup infrastructure.

i have inserted a valid license

/log/netbackup/admin # bpminlicense -debug
xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xx   xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xx  0x05000000 0x58872a3b appliance08
<2>bpminlicense: EXIT status = 0

I tried to reset to default factory and restart the configuration, but it is not end fine. I can see a difference, now the appliance is partitioned fine, only it can't create the disk pool. I would like to create the DP by myself but the deduppassword is not configured.

Is appliance08 in the bp.conf of master?

You aren't supposed to create the DPs on an appliance manually.  You want the automated processes to be used, so don't try doing it or you will likely make things worse.

Did you factory reset or re-image?  Did you reset storage when you did that?

Try these sizes:

AdvancedDisk 1 TB

MSDP 44 TB

MSDP Catalog 200 GB

...because you can always grow and move them around afterwards.

Also, the sizes that you have been selecting seem to be causing the wizard to place a portion of the MSDP pool on the Base disks which is not a good idea.

And your size selections also seem to be causing the wizard to place the Advanced Disk pool out on the Expansion tray, but I myself wouldn't do that, because in my experience the Advanced Disk pool is plenty fast enough even when only placed on the Base disks.

Try the sizes above.

hello @vtas_chas, yes the appliance is in the bp.conf.

I did Factory reset, I reset whole the Appliance less then network configuration

hello, I discovered that tcp port 13720 on pubblic lan it is closed by firewall. I would like use only backup lan where the port are all open, but I don't understand why the appliance configuration affect also the pubblic lan and the configuration fails. Now I just open this port and retry to configure....

Maybe during the appliance configuration all hostname resolution are tested ?

opened TCP port 13720 on public lan, all work fine.
