Hi all,

In my previous post, I have asked how back up Microsoft Exchange into tape. Now, I need help how to configure a Microsoft Exchange 2010 to Symantec Appliance.

Master server

Windows Server 2012 standard R2 (clustered)

Netbackup version: 7.6.0.3

Microsoft Exchange

Microsoft Exchange 2010 SP3

Windows Server 2008 R2 with 2 CAS and 2 DAG ( Netbackup client installed)

Symantec appliance (media server)

version 2.6.0.3

I've read some of the TN from Symantec and they outline that I need to have NFS service to installed in the Master backup server, Exchange servers and media server. But how about appliance, I presume that NFS is part of the Symantec appliance. So then it leave me with the service account for netbackup right?

Thank you

Hi Watsons,

Thanks for the link. We manage to do the successful backup and email recoery as well. Just make sure that all the prequisite is in place and also the most important is the ports (number 7394, 2049 and 111). Below are the links that is very helpful to me (including the link Watsons gave).

Hope it will help others too.

You might want to read up this technote : http://www.symantec.com/docs/HOWTO73076

You will find the details of what to do from the Exchange hosts end, and you will find this point:

   d. If media server is UNIX, no additional configuration is required - check the OS compatibility to ensure it is a supported platform - TECH59978

Since your media server is Symantec Appliance (Unix/Linux), NFS should be enabled by default. So you don't need to worry about it.
