Copy 5020 to tape

I know I can replicated backups to a second appliance but is there a way to copy the entire contents of a 5020 to tape?

You can only run a duplication (via Media Server(s)) to tape from a 5020

It has no tape out facility when used with NetBackup

the duplication can either be accomplished via the bpduplicate command or through the "catalog" utility in the admin console, although you need a media server that has visibility to both the 5020 (has to have a check for that media server in the storage server properties of the 5020) and the tape resources.

Hey Mate,

What do you mean by "entire contents"?

If you mean - completely everything - all file systems, including the PureDisk databases etc... you would need to install NBU client on the appliance to achieve that. ...it's doable - but not necessarily supported :)

If you mean - to protect deduplicated data -> this essentially is the PureDisk.. (apliance). you can create in NetBackup the policy and configure PureDisk to send/export the data to NetBackup... and the tape.

Have a look at PureDisk Admin Guide - p.58 and following.

Hope it helps

Sebastian, good point which caused me to have to clarify my point above.......

My point above is valid for all of the backup data stored on a 5020, not for EITHER of the two use cases laid out by Sebastian above.
