Question 1: The Manage > Storage > Disks is from the Web GUI not the CLISH. Use the "Add" option instead then the Resize Option to grow your pool.

Question 2: Good question but basically unanswerable because it depends on how busy the system is and if it need to re-level at all. New writes will go to the new disk but you may not redistribute any of the old data.

A1: manage > storage > add unit_3

A2: It is instantly available. The appliances uses vxvm and it just expands the concatenated volume housing your deduplication pool.

Note: It is not recommended to use the storage in the head (Unit_1) in the deduplication pool along with the disk shelves.

Q1 : thanks, u pointed out my mistake.

Q2 : system would not be busy, my plan is to get all weekly backups done. then do disk expansion during daytime. all major backups and duplications would be over by then. hence no backups, no replication, no image import etc.
