Duplication between appliances in same domain

Hi all,

Having some trouble with duplicating backup images between netbackup appliances. My customer have two appliances Appliance A and Appliance B. They created one SLP to do this, backup goes to Appliance B and duplicate to Appliance A. For backup job is now problem. But for duplication job, we may see this error:

10/25/2016 10:15:53 AM - requesting resource LCM_stu_disk_Appliance A
10/25/2016 10:15:54 AM - granted resource LCM_stu_disk_Appliance A

no images were successfully processed (191)

Is duplication between appliances is allowed? It somehow showing that "Requested media server does not have credential for storage server". Is it because my customer need to set the credential for Appliance B? but where to do that?

Thanks in advance

NBU status: 2107, EMM status: Requested media server does not have credentials or is not configured for the storage server

This looks like you haven't set permission in the NBU admin console for the media server to access that storage server.

If these are appliances you need to get the dedupe password via the CLISH (see the appliance admin guide for details on how to do this) and input those credentials Devices>Credentials>Storage Servers.  You might want to check out the Deduplication Guide and Admin Guide for more guidance on these topics, too.

Hi Charles,

Thank you for the reply. I did go thru the Deduplication guide but not fully understand it. However, I do have both appliances credential's. So where to put the credential? Please do take a look at the figure attached, there are 2 appliances (Applaince A and Appliance B).I have the credential for both applainces and the appliances is already in the Devices>Credentials>Storage Servers.  So then, what next?

Thank you

The screenshot you attached is not showing full details.

For example, there should be a "media servers" column of each storage server entries, what's the value?

You should at least have 2 - 1 for applianceA, 1 for applianceB. Just double-click on that PureDisk entry and you will understand what that means - how many media servers are checked?

If this issue is intermittent, it could be something else (non-credential related) such as network instability, that sometimes applianceA could not read the dedup data from applianceB. Check bpdm logs and log a support case.
