NBU Appliance 5340 HA is having two nodes as active & passive node configured with virtual IP & Hostname.
Veritas recommends to create only 1 policy MSDP Catalog with the appliance virtual name
-- Go to Active node of HA in appliance & execute the below command to configure the policy /usr/openv/pdde/pdcr/bin./drcontrol --new_policy --residence (Storage Unit) --policy (New_policy_name) --OS Linux --client (appliance_virtual_name)
-- Once command executed Go to Policy Tab & Find the new policy & start the backup (If backup is failing with status 7648; Connection cannot be established because the host validation failed. The host validation was not successful. Ensure that the NetBackup master server name and the host name are configured correctly.)
-- Connection is dropped because a conflict in host-IP to Hostname mapping is detected. Verify the certificates & Host-Id connection with the following commands.
cd /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/nbcertcmd -ping
cd /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/nbcertcmd -hostselfcheck
cd /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/nbcertcmd -getCACertificate
cd /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/nbcertcmd -getCertificate
cd /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/nbcertcmd -getCertificate -force
cd /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/nbcertcmd -getCRL
cd /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/admincmd/bpclntcmd -pn
cd /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/admincmd/bpclntcmd –self
-- After reconfirmation of above commands do the checks in Security Management (NBU Admin Console)=>Host Management=>Mappings for Approval
Filter the name of appliance name and approve pending approval. Once it is done try the backup it will complete successfully.
